Functional Medicine Update

Hola! How’s your Tuesday?! I spent mine working, followed by a muscle restoration massage (ow), and two classes at the gym. I know I said I would go to yoga, but my trainer / friend Ashley was subbing for both classes, and her training > yoga any day.

Over here in functional medicine land, I received two of the three blood test results I’ve been waiting for since my most recent follow-up appointment. The doctor wanted to retest my Vitamin D level, candida, and mycoplasma, as all three were abnormal after my initial round of blood work.

Why Collagen & Pegan Pick #5!

I’m no stranger to protein powder. My all time favorite in both powder and pre-made form is hands down Orgain. I drank their vegan chocolate pre-made protein shake pretty much every single morning from the moment I switched to a vegan diet until I switched over to my pegan (paleo + vegan hybrid) diet five months ago. But, the Orgain option contains sugar, and even though it is a small amount, I can’t add it to my shakes any longer.

Four Months Down!

It’s been far too long since I’ve posted about my functional medicine journey! Not that this is a blog focused on #teacherproblems, but the end of the school year was a hot mess both personally and professionally. Good news: It’s summer break! I can get back to posting regularly about all that is associated with my pursuit of clear skin (and a healthy body)!

So, in the spirit of jumping back in to blogging, I wanted to provide a brief update on the state of my skin after four long months (or 122 days, to be exact). Scope the photos below to see for yourself, but aside from a few, teeny tiny pimples that have been popping up in no particular pattern on my chin and upper lip, my face has been clear of new blemishes. What’s left appears to be scars, but I personally feel as though they are lightening up slowly but surely.
