Primal Kitchen Pegan Pick!

If you follow me on social media, you are well aware of my current love affair with Thrive Market. I’ve mentioned it before on the blog as well, but Thrive Market is essentially a cross between Whole Foods, Amazon, and Costco. Health conscious products at a serious discount that arrive at your door? Sign me up.

I end up purchasing from Thrive Market at least twice per month due to the discount on my favorite products, as well as the availability of some products I simply cannot find in stores. The best part of Thrive? Most days, if you spend over $59 you not only receive free shipping, but a free gift as well!

Enter: Primal Kitchen Avocado Mayo

For the record, I loathe mayonnaise. And not just since becoming super nutrition focused – I was first totally grossed out by the concept in college. No thank you. Hard pass.

But one day I really needed Epic Bars from Thrive, and the free gift was avocado mayo. When it arrived, I read the ingredients list and shockingly was not disgusted: avocado oil, organic cage-free eggs, organic egg yolks, organic vinegar, sea salt, organic rosemary extract.

I am so glad I reluctantly gave Primal Kitchen Avocado Mayo a try! This stuff is seriously delicious – No comparison to the normal, gross oil laden original. And even better, it’s sugar free, soy free, canola free, dairy free, gluten and grain free, fitting perfectly into my paleo + vegan hybrid (pegan) diet.

In terms of nutrition content, it is pure healthy fat. 100 calories per tablespoon, 12 grams of fat (1.5 saturated). It retails for $9.95 online and for $7.45 through Thrive Market – I have not yet seen it available in stores.

I’ve used it for everything from burger toppings to dipping sauces, but my favorite use is in salmon salad.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 can of wild caught salmon
  • 1 tbsp avocado mayo
  • Onion powder to taste (I like a lot)
  • Optional: Tomatoes, avocado, carrots, celery, olives, etc.

Mix together and serve on top of a giant salad with dijon mustard dressing, like so:

I hope you enjoy! If you get a chance to try it out, let me know what you think!

PS. Isn’t my autumn tablecloth the cutest? Thank you, Target.
